Feed The Network And Let The Fruit Take Care Of Itself.
Trees support each other via networks lying deep in the ground. They share nutrients, food, resources. These networks might be thousands of years old, sprouting new trees over and over. It’s the network which creates the opportunities for new growth. And these networks lye unseen.
Are we so different?
Networks support you.
They lye unseen.
Social networks (no, not that kind; real life, real people), family networks, commercial networks, ecological networks.
The work we do, our businesses, they are no more than a tree sprouting from a hidden network thousands of years old. Yet we obsess over the tree; it’s what we can see. It get our energy, our attention.
Maybe we should worry less about the object, the fruits, and worry more about the networks.
Tend the underlying systems, the connections of support, the communities, the networks - the things which remain unseen, and let the fruits - the business, the project, the endeavour - take care of themselves.
