Episode 12: An unconventional recipe for success
Dashal Beevers left school at 13 unable to read or write properly, but with a strong work ethic. His school environment hadn’t been supportive to his dyslexia, but Dash had found ways to connect and work with people on a human basis to undercut more traditional means of finding work.
Fear and difficult life circumstances forced Dash to push away opportunities, although he was always an advocate for his own happiness and sense of fulfilment. With his brother and sister, Dash opened BeFries, the UK’s first Belgian-style fry shop, selling double-cooked chips along with sauces.
When the pressures of high street retail and COVID lockdowns forced the business to close, Dash and his siblings rallied, pivoting to selling vegan mayonnaises under a new brand, BeSaucy.
In part one of a two-part conversation, Dash shares his rollercoaster life story with Ben, along with the learnings he’s come to along the way.
