Are They Shoots Of Kindness Sprouting Over There?

My kids break things.

Like old laptops.

Once or twice, they’ve found an old laptop and taken it apart.

And it never goes back to together again.

Even if they wanted to, they have no idea what the pieces are or how they fit together.

And even if they knew, there’s no chance, with that level of systematic dismantling, the pieces would work or fit together in the same way.

We’re left with a pile of broken components on the kitchen table.

What’s happening now, I am reminded of the broken laptop.

As we race to fight an unseen viral enemy, the pieces of the puzzle have been or are being systematically dismantled. People at home. Businesses shutting. Work disappearing.

Like the old computer, what was normal is slowly dismantled.

Left on the metaphorical kitchen table.

We can’t put it back together again. Well, not in the same way.

Instead, something new and different will likely be borne.

There will be a reset.

Breathe. Yep, the birds are happy. The air is cleaner and quieter. Less cars. No planes in the sky.

Sure. the pieces are unlikely to fit back together in the same way again, but what grows instead might just be - whilst not without challenges - closer, cleaner, healthier, kinder.
